Q: Im in college and want a career in fitness/health (personal trainer) but want something that pays better than your regular 24 hour fitness training job. I just dont know where to start or what courses to take to be in this type of work and still get paid well.
A: Well for now thats the place to start. Maybe you can be a personal fitness person or something. You have to start somewhere.
Q: i want to know because right now i am about to finish going to school for massage therapy. i want to work with athletes but i figured to work with athletes to also be able to be a physical therapist too. i was looking online at the delta college website and it showed something about a health fitness specialist. i wondered if the 2 weresimilar to each other. thank you for your help.
A: They are nothing alike. PT requires a graduate degree and passing a national exam. They work with all ages making people more functional. Heath fitness specialist is a personal trainer. On the job training. They work with the well adults.

Q: I am one class away from completing my degree in biology, and a few classes from my psychology degree. I have a lot of interest in the psychology of learning, as well as health and fitness. (I love working out.) I would really like to find a career that combines these interests, but my advisors at college, as well as other professors, family and friends don't have any ideas. I have taken some career assessment tests on computers, but they require you to pick only one major of interest. And I would really like to do something that makes a difference, where I can see that I'm helping people. I don't want to sit behind a desk. I need action and variety. Anyone have any ideas?
A: If I had your qualifications and interests I think I would consider teaching. You might be able to do some Physical Education work with troubled kids. A different approach might be to write a sort of loose essay describing what you consider to be perfect activities (not a perfect job) for yourself. With that essay in hand you could do a bit of polishing and it may lead you to the perfect career. It might also show you something you hadn't considered but would be great for you if you only took two or three more classes.Beyond that I am drawing a blank. I hope my suggestions help. Good Luck.
Q: I am most likely going to major in business and just changed my mind from minoring in marketing to some type of health/fitness career. Something along the lines of a personal trainer, physical therapist, ect. What other careers are out there in fitness that are well paying and can require atleast an associates degree? What would the major/minor be called?
A: Physical Education major covers all that material. Also, athletic training is a good major as well. They both cover a lot of biology (lower level courses), kenesiology, anatomy, physiology, etc. To become a trainer, you will need to take an aditional "class" (it's like a week or something) and then pass a training test (24 hour fitness will have info on that). Other careers are of course, PE teaching, athletic trainer (leaning toward medical/healing injuries/etc), physical therapist, personal trainer, that's about all I can think of at the moment. There are a ton or resources out there, it would not take a too much research to find them. Good luck. (You could always mix the business and health professions in some creative way. You could be a pioneer! :) Again, good luck!
Q: I am thinking of going to college and getting my Bachelors degree in Texas. Im currently a student getting my AA degree so I can transfer to a 4 year college or university. I am interested in the nutrition/fitness area and I dont know what sort of degree or major I should look into. Thanks!
A: A degree in exercise science is one I have heard of. I don't know how common it is, or how many universities offer this. You would want to study anatomy, physiology, etc. to really understand the body. I would suggest whatever college you wish to attend, speak to a counselor there, they are sure to give you the best advice.
Q: Do all health fitness clubs deliberately refuse to close down business even during financial crisis because they want to force people to become fit & healthy? Is it so to prevent people from obesity, diabetes etc? Do health fitness clubs ignore the financial crisis and continue to operate to stop any health epidemics?
A: A lot of "health and fitness clubs" must remain open. They have sold contracts to its members and have agreed to certain things, like being open set times of the day, or offering members to come and go any time day or night. If they were to close, they would have to refund every ones money, and that would put them out of business.
Q: I want to start a health accountability small group and i need a good curriculum. I would like the group to focus on taking control of eating, weight issues and insecurities by allowing God to work through those areas. I want to incorporate some kind of activity before or after a teaching time, and allow the members to share as well.
Q: I want to get fit and healthy as Im having some trouble with my health. Ideally I would like to go and stay at one of these fitness camp places, but most of the ones i have found only do week long stints. I would like to stay for around a month, maybe more. Is there anywhere in britain or even further afield that does this? I wouldnt mind if its not in egland, am just interested in seeing what is about! Thanks
A: There are a number of health camps in Thailand, where you can go as long as you want.
